Sam Langford vs Joe Jeannette
*LUNA PARK, PARIS*
December 20, 1913
20 Round Battle
Four African American men reigned supreme in the
boxing ring:
Jack Johnson, Sam Langford, Sam
MacVey
and Joe Jennette.  Just which of these four
fighters was the best is a matter that never was
settled.
Of this great foursome Johnson was probably the
best boxer, Langford the hardest hitter, and MacVey
the strongest.
Jennette was the best combination of the three. He
was a good hitter, but not a killer like Langford.   He
was strong, but not as strong as the gigantic
MacVey, while as a boxer he did not class with
Johnson but came close to it.
At strength, boxing ability, and hitting power he was
a combination hard to beat, and he had the
additional qualification of being able to eat up
punishment. How he could take it. But as for
courage and stamina and long distance fighting
ability, he is simply the best.
Ken Korton one of the Greats
who fought Ali 3 times and
gave him a broken jaw.   Ken
could adjust to different styles
and was a thinking fighter. He
could box straight up, bob and
weave and was shifty as hell.
